This is the story of the little vine-plant of Syrah. Le Cep is the French for vine-stock, say the lower part, the trunk of the vine-plant. Planted in January 2007, we are going to follow the main steps of its life. A long adventure that could last... 50 or 70 years...
Plantation of the little vine-plant
The little vine-plant is protected with wax. It has just been planted and it's meeting the soil and the sun, its main partners to grow up.

The first leaves
It rained at the end of the winter, the sun is warming up the atmosphere: the conditions are good for our little vine-plant to open out. The first leaves are appearing.

Nice growth!
Our little vine-plant has grown up during the summer. It has two limbs now. It's end of August and the weather has been very dry this year. Hence some leaves are beginning to be yellow.

Blond or red?
Autumn has come and the leaves are now turning yellow, red, brown. They will completely dry and finally fall down with the first cold weather.

No more leaves!
It's done, all leaves fell down. Our small vine plant is naked! We can see around the wild aragula flowers that were woken up by the winter rains. We also see the stakes that will help guiding the plant when it grows up.

Pruning the small vine plant
Stéphane has pruned our small vine plant. He totally cut a branch and let some buds on the other cane. It will grow better at spring time it is forced that way.
