Classique Rosé

Classique Rosé

Even when I'm in the swimming pool, I enjoy drinking tasty rosé. The expres- sive and structured Anglès rosé is also very much apreciated when matched food. Eric Fabre

La vigne

Terroir

Hard limestone screes of the mountain of La Clape. Warm and dry climate tempered by the Mediterranean. Slow ripening thanks to cooler nights on the shores of the sea.

Growing

Sustainable practices according to High Environmental Value charter (level 3) in respect for the environment and complexity of the wine: composted pomace, mulched prunings, plowing, no insecticides, no weedkillers.

Varieties

Mourvèdre (80%), Syrah(10%), Grenache (10%)
Cordon de Royat trellising, hard-pruned for strictly controlled yields of about 35 hl/ha.

The cellar

Harvest

Two-months-long picking according to maturity of each varity. Grapes are hand-selected.

Vinification

Total de-stemming, juice is gravity-fed into vats, cleaned from bad lees twice, traditional temperature-controlled fermentation. Mourvèdre is directly pressed, Syrah and Grenache come from bleeding.

Ageing

Stirring on the fine lees in concrete vats during 3 months. Light fining for stabilisation.

The wine

Tasting notes

Brilliant, light pink colour. Intense and complex nose of white flowers and fruits, citrus fruits and also small fresh red berries aromas. Plentiful mouth with a long and complex aromatic composition balanced by a mineral freshness.

Ageing potential

Enjoy fresh and fruity in the first 3 years.

Food pairing

Will definitely match all kinds of summer dishes like salads and grills. Also excellent with Asian cuisine, red berries-based desserts, and all along your restless nights...

Service

Drink around 8°C/45°F.

What they say

A ripe, rich and exotic tasting rosé... The creamy finish shows lots of spice.
Wine Spectator, 90/100

I was really taken by Ch d'Anglès, Classique Rosé. A singular blend that had a rather umami quality to it, lovely freshness and a proper dry finish. A 'Real wine', I wrote, and thought it would make both a good aperitif and is quite substantial enough to go with food. It's more assertive than a typical Provençal rosé and much drier than most New World pinks.
Jancis robinson, Wine of the week

An extremely pale-pink color, this pretty rosé offers notes of strawberry hull and white raspberry that are framed by hints of pink flowers, garrigue herbs and melon rind. The light-weight palate is easy and bright, with great verve and lingering tones of white peach and cherry.
