Assemblages under the sun
Some of the best moment in the year. All the vats of wine from the cellar are on the table. Together with our wine consultant Christian Lacassie, we proceed to the assemblages (blending) to craft the different cuvées of Château d'Anglès. And we do it under the sun of this beautiful day of November.

An early morning in fall
It's 8 a.m. in the montagne de La Clape and everything is still. All is calm, there is not a sound. The plain is covered by a veil of mist. The sun rises on the sea, its rays gently caressing the cheeks of those who take the time to appreciate the wilderness of our Terroir de La Clape.

Grand Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe
Château d'Anglès was very much appreciated yesterday at the Village d'Honneur of the Grand Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, in Paris. We served the Coteaux du Languedoc white on the first course then the Terroir de La Clape white at the wine bar. They were served together with five of the nine Crus Bourgeois Exceptionnels of the Médoc that were also attending the most beautiful race of the year. Here is the menu:

Harvest: first day!
This year we are begining by the oldest white grenache plot, one of the last plots planted the old way, in bush, without treillessing. The grapes are beautifully brown, they contain a high level of sugar and develop delightful flavours of fleshy white fruits. These grenaches will feed some barrels to create the 'Terroir de La Clape' white cuvée. But the way is long for them...

The beautiful light of August
The Summer light is slowly fading into shades of lemon and gold, enhancing the delightful colours of the mediterranean vegetation. The harvest is approaching...

Young Mourvèdre on the pebble terrace
Four years ago, we planted a new grape variety on the vineyard: Mourvèdre. It is located on the most adequate ground: a fresh smooth stones terrace down the estate. The growing conditions are the same as in Bandol, the original Terroir for the Mourvèdre: "the head at the sun and the feet in the water"!
It will be part of the assemblage when it is five years old. It will bring more structure and a spicy character to the wine.

The top of La Clape
We are not talking about the wines of Château d'Anglès... but of the highest crest of our small mountain. It's 214 m. high and it's called Pech Redon. "Pech" is an Occitan term meaning "hill", that's why there are a lot of "pech" in the South of France, the ancient Occitania. And "redon" means "round". So the highest summit of La Clape is a round hill!

Happy Easter!
After the first flowers of almond, this is a young sleeve of Bourboulenc, the main grape we make our great white wine from.
The first flowers of the new season
The new season is beginning. The rays of sunshine are softly warming the ground and the first flowers are coming out. This is an almond flower. It smells like fresh honey and will become an almond after some months. Nature is slow, nature is beautiful.

Snow on the Terroir de La Clape!
This is a very unusual view of the vineyard!!! It doesn't happen often. But the snow only lasted a day...

Happy New Year!
Very best wishes of good health and prosperity for 2006 from the Fabre family at Château d'Anglès.
If you live in a cold country, just come on holiday here during winter... This is a view from the ancient sheep barn called "Tufarel" on top of the Terroir de La Clape, with the sea behind:
